Communication

Counterpoint utilises a large number of communication systems. Just some examples of the existing formats that are used on a daily, weekly and monthly basis are as follows:

  • Our PABX supports a voice mailbox for all merchandisers and includes group voicemail send, which is very useful for getting the word out to the field quickly. This is in addition to the voicemail box that is standard to the mobile phone service that is in the PDA
  • Management staff has email capability through devices such as Blackberry and iPhone and can process emails on the go
  • Documents are delivered to the field electronically via the in house built software and also on the web site (through the use of eForms)
  • Between our state offices we have a VPN (Virtual Private Network) which connects the data networks, and allows remote admin work and IT support
  • We also have a video conference system with a multiplexing unit in NSW, capable of linking up the state offices. This can save a great deal of travel time, show new products and POS off and allow people to put a face to a name. There is a voice only conference system if the video is not needed
  • On top of this infrastructure we also process orders electronically through the use of EDI software, while a few orders are faxed
  • We have our own email server, which processes hundreds of emails per hour
  • We also, of course, utilise a standard mail out system for large management of POS and documents that require to be held in hard copy

All told, there is always a lot of communication going on at any one time.
